There’s a lot of hard work, but some of the events that unfold are hilariously funny. There’s a lot of firehouse banter, jokes, camaraderie, and training, which was all thoroughly entertaining, especially learning the ins and outs of what it takes to be a firefighter. The story follows main character Cassie to a new fire station when she moves to take care of her ailing, estranged mother. I loved every single second of this book. But, a Zumba buddy recommended Things You Save in a Fire to me, and she loaned me her copy of the book, so I figured I’d give it a whirl. ![]() Although I’ve watched parts of Backdraft and all of Ladder 49, I shy away from anything involving firefighters because I just can’t handle the emotional devstation that follows most of their storylines. She is not as sharp tonged and confident as Harry Dresden or Gin (The Spider). I pretty much instantly took a liking to Jane. Jane appears to be fairly new to this business of being a vampire hunter for hire and it is the first book in a series so there are some of the usual hesitant feelings that you always have when an author settles in with a new series. ![]() It is quite well written with a good story that do not feel like it was hastily cobbled together.
